Q: Have bicycle lanes been included in the study?
A: Bicycle connectivity was addressed and coordinated with PATH during the development of the Community Strategic Plan sponsored by the Tucker Civic Association. Maybe you could contact them and volunteer to help coordinate development of bicycle lanes outside of the Tucker Business Core. Bicycle accessibility will be addressed in greater detail during the development of the Master Plan for the Business Core. Stay tuned for other opportunities to get involved.
Q: Will there be a green space or common area that could be a forum for events like concerts, weekend farmers markets and art or antique fairs. Also space for restaurants or Cafes to offer alfresco dining?
A: Hopefully during the development of the Master Plan potential areas can be identified.
Q: How will new business and restaurants be attracted and will Architectural Guidelines be planned and enforced?
A: The Main Street Strip concepts were generated as a demonstration project. The current plan is to move forward simultaneous with development of a Master Plan. As a part of the Master Plan a Market Analysis will be completed to develop a marketing strategy for attracting businesses to the Tucker Business Core. Associated with the Market Analysis will be an inventory of total space and space availability. The Master Plan Phase will study what type of governmental structure will be best for Tucker and make recommendations. There will be additional opportunities for the community to interact and provide input into the development of the Master Plan.
Q: Will the proposed changes cause additional traffic congestion like Main Street Stone Mountain?
A: Preliminary study indicates that we have a completely different traffic flow than downtown Stone Mountain. Even when Main Street is completely shut down like at Christmas or for Tucker Day traffic gets around just fine. Both issues (traffic and payback) certainly need further evaluation while developing the Master Plan.
